Recession and bicycles

It has been a long time since we last updated this blog. We have been so busy running two workshops a week, plus our respective jobs, that we haven't had time for anything else really.

2009 has come, and it seems it will be Recession Year. This creates a lot of frustration and anxiety, and we are not exempt from it.

However, recycling bicycles and putting them back on the roads is a good anti recession tool: it is cheap, give exercise which is good for mental health, and our workshops encourage social inclusion which is more than needed when the budgets are being cut.

So we decided that 2009 will be the bicycle year instead. In order to do so, we will be setting up as a company very shortly, we will be looking for premises to rent probably from March (one of the project managers will be then working full time on Rothar), we are becoming members of Dublin Food Co-Op and if lucky we will be able to sell a few bicycles every month during the Dublin Flea Market. We hope to get new groups to run workshops with and we will be accredited bicycle instructors in March!

So get on yer bike and let us know if you want to join us for any of our activities!
